Andrea Battello Hung is an Italian painter from Udine, Italy and is currently based in New York.
Surrounded by the mountains, sea, and the beauty of the countryside growing up, Andrea’s paintings are inspired by his deep connection to nature and his exploration of texture and shapes through the manipulation of paint and water.
His style is distinctive for the use of deep and dark tones contrasted with pockets of light and soft gradients. His dreamlike landscapes are serene yet emotive and the subtlety of the forms and lines in his paintings complement the natural architecture of the space it inhabits.
His work features deep forests, silhouettes of mountains, abstract interpretations of the sea and lakes, and the natural shapes and curves of foliage and the natural terrain. With the use of acrylics on linen, his paintings combine the quality of delicate sumi-e ink paintings and the transparent glow of lights and darks reminiscent in watercolor paintings.
Andrea earned a degree from the Scuola Internazionale di Grafica in Venice specializing in Graphic Design and Communication Arts and and is currently working as a senior designer at Stranger & Stranger Studio in New York.
